Introduction

Glendalough named from the Irish "Gleann da Loch" - meaning the "Valley of the two lakes", was founded by the action of glaciers and presents the modern visitor with a variety of forest and woodland walks, spectacular landscapes - rich in flora and fauna. Thoughout the valley lie the historic remains of peoples lives marked only by their places of worship and the vacant ruins of an Industrial age long since gone.
