Visitors do not have to go through the centre to view the monuments. There is a large selection of publications on the archaeology, architecture and history of the monuments of Glendalough, many of which are available locally.
Beside the Monastic City there is a visitor centre where an exhibition, audio-visual show and guided tours of the monuments are available. This centre, run by Duchas (The Heritage Service) is open seven days a week throughout the year and bookings can be arranged in advance (Telephone: 353 404 45352/45325).
