SOME OLD PICTURES FROM THE EARLY 1900'S

by kind permssion of Michael McCoy

The Three pictures below are of considerable interest. They were taken aroundthe beginning of the last century around probably 1910 or thereabouts. Theye were postcards which were posted to foreign parts of the world, and have since arrived back here to Laragh. If you can help us identify dates etc, please email wwc@wwc.ie.
.
The first shows the Glendalough Round Tower, the Hotel, and a view of the valley to the lakes, which cannot be seen today.
The next one below shows the bridge at Laragh,, at the entrance to the Glendalough Valley. Many do not realise how long this was, as it looks like it just passes over the river itseelf. The old mill house can be seen on the right, as well as St Kevins Church higher up. It would be interest to identify the motor cyclist, who could be a lady, sitting there ofr the picture. Any comments are welcome. Just email wwc@wwc.ie
The picture below is again of the bridge, but from a slightly different angle and closer. The foreground is now built on. Also Lynhams Pub as it is known now can also be seen over the bridge on the left. It should also be noted that there is a green now, where the houses are placed directly opposite the bridge.
WWC gratefully acknowledges the help of Hazel McCoy, daughter of Michael McCoy in providing these pictures. Please respect the copyright on ownership.
