The Latest
Having reached the county semi-final of the Junior A football championship, Laragh play Annacurra this Sunday, September 29th, at Aughrim. Annacurra are favourites to win this year’s championship but this young Laragh team can play good football and with plenty of support we hope to pull off a surprise.
Vandalism
The Laragh GAA club and the community are in the very fortunate position of having a superb playing field with dressing rooms. These facilities are the result of a lot of hard work put in by people in the community both past and present. The facilities are there for the use of all in the community who wish to play Gaelic games, especially our youth, and also for use by other community groups for fund-raising events. Unfortunately in the past number of months the dressing rooms have been broken into on numerous occasions. Windows have been broken, doors kicked in, ceilings pulled down, graffiti sprayed on the walls and electrical fittings broken. The Gardaí have been notified and are investigating the break-ins. The Laragh GAA club would like to ask people in the community, especially those who live in close proximity to the playing field, to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to the Gardaí or any member of the club. As a result of this vandalism the club will be taking extra measures to restrict access to the field. Access to the field will only be permitted when a supervised event is taking place. These facilities are for the enjoyment of all - we would ask people to please respect them.
